Breast Lift

Softening, sagging and deformation of the breasts for various reasons may cause aesthetic concerns in women. The breasts consisting of fat and milk glands may deform and lose their upright appearance due to reasons such as aging, weight fluctuations, genetic factors, congenital structural disorders, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Breast aesthetic applications come into play at the point where the skin of the breasts loosens, their volume decreases and sagging occurs, and the breasts have a more aesthetic appearance. During breast aesthetic surgeries, it is possible to enlarge, reduce or lift the breasts. Breast lift surgeries can be performed alone or in combination with augmentation and reduction operations.

What is Breast Lift?

Breast lift surgery is performed to reshape and lift breasts that are deformed due to various factors. Within the scope of this procedure, excess skin in the breasts is removed and the tissue surrounding the breast contour is tightened. Aiming to provide women with a younger and lifted breast profile, breast lift surgery addresses both aesthetic concerns and self-confidence problems.

Who is breast lift suitable for?

Breast lift is applied to people who have completed breast development, i.e. 18 years of age, and who do not have a health problem that prevents surgery. However, the decision of suitability for breast lift surgery is made individually for each patient as a result of the evaluations made.

  • Elimination of sagging, loss of shape and volume in the breasts,
  • The breasts have a swinging, elongated and flat appearance,
  • Positioning of the nipples below the breast fold line when unsupported,
  • Areola and nipples pointing downwards,
  • Widening or stretching of the skin,
  • Breast lift surgery can be performed if one of the breasts is positioned lower than the other.

How is Breast Lift Performed?

Breast lift can be performed under general anaesthesia and with different techniques depending on the person. If the sagging in the breasts is mild, dental breasts can be achieved by placing a silicone implant under the breast. In cases where sagging is excessive and there is a serious decrease in breast tissue elasticity, the breast can be lifted by intervening in the breast tissue.

In this context, excess skin in the breast is removed, the breast tissue is reshaped and the breast is given a rounded form. If necessary, the nipple is brought to the ideal position. If the tissue in the internal structure of the breast is not sufficient or if the breast tissue needs to be removed, breast lift can be performed using silicone prosthesis. Although the techniques applied are different, the aim of all of them is to provide the patient with voluminous, erect and full breasts.

Breast lift is usually performed with inverted T and lollipop techniques. In the lollipop technique, the incision made around the nipple continues towards the inframammary fold in the form of a line. The technique, in which the nipple is moved to the ideal position by removing excess tissue, is generally preferred for the removal of mild sagging.

In the inverted T technique, in addition to the incisions made in the lollipop incision technique, another incision is made horizontally on the inframammary fold line. In the inverted T technique, which is preferred in patients with advanced sagging, the sagging appearance is improved by removing the excess breast tissue.

Recovery Process After Breast Lift

After breast lift surgery, a sports bra is used for an average of 8 weeks. It is usually possible for patients to return to their daily lives within 4 to 7 days. Regular use of medications prescribed by the doctor accelerates the healing process.

Simple painkillers can be used for mild pain that may be felt after breast lift surgery. In the first week after the operation, hard and sudden movements should not be made and heavy lifting should be avoided. Since it may adversely affect the healing process, care should be taken not to drink alcohol and smoke for 10 days following the operation.

You should not lie face down and drive a car for 2 weeks after breast lift surgery. It is usually possible to start light sports after 4 weeks. After breast lift surgery, the scar under the breast line or around the nipple begins to recover within 1 to 3 months. It takes the colour of the skin and loses its prominence within 1 year on average.
