Hair Transplant

SMP

The health and beauty sector offers effective solutions with new treatment methods for many ailments in light of scientific and technical developments. Developments that contribute to the improvement of health services in different fields have also played a critical role in the development of diagnosis and treatment of hair loss problems. One of these methods, SMP, also known as hair tattooing, hair pigmentation, or micro pigmentation, uses special devices, tips, and micro-needles to deliver a coloring agent to the scalp.

What is SMP?

SMP, also known as hair simulation, can be defined as a hair loss solution that can be applied to people who are not suitable for hair transplantation or who cannot achieve high hair density due to the weakness of the donor areas.

Who is SMP Suitable for?

Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical procedure that offers solutions to problems such as regional hair loss, alopecia, and baldness, and is applied to people who have insufficient donor area used during hair transplantation or who have undergone hair transplantation but have not achieved the desired appearance.

The aim of the application is to create an image as if there are hair follicles on the scalp. By minimizing the color difference between hair and scalp, a lighter appearance is prevented. From this point of view, it can be stated that micro-pigmentation is an image-based temporary manipulation technique. Although the results obtained with the application are permanent for an average of 3 to 4 years, this period may vary depending on the skin structure of the person.

How is SMP Performed?

The SMP method is performed using a cyclic device that shoots at a constant depth. Through this device, micro-pigments are processed on the surface of the epidermis to mimic real hair follicles. During the micro pigmentation process, a full and natural hair appearance can be obtained by using forms similar to hair follicles and hair structures. Unlike tattoo devices, special devices are used in the hair simulation process.

The application is performed with disposable and personalized sterilized needles. SMP procedure can be applied after hair transplantation or it is also possible to perform hair transplantation in an area where hair simulation has been performed. During the procedure, the application area is numbed with local anesthetic creams, so the patient's comfort is not disturbed.

It is not possible to perform the micro pigmentation application using tattoo pigments. Because the needles used in the tattoo process allow the application to the deeper part of the skin. Performing this application with tattooing may cause the pigments to disperse between the layers of the skin and cause dark spots. In addition, permanent dyes used in tattooing can change color over time. In this case, the natural hair appearance deteriorates. The dye used in hair simulation has the feature of preserving naturalness. Since this dye is more easily absorbed by the body, the pigments do not change color over time.

Recovery Process After SMP

Since there are no wounds or scratches during the application, it is possible for the person to continue his/her daily life. Although it is possible to get instant results after each session, the final results cannot be seen before the last session is completed.

Swelling and redness may occur for 2-3 hours after the application. However, the duration of this side effect may vary depending on the patient's skin structure. In people with sensitive skin, redness is likely to last for a few days. Many people face itching during the healing process. In order to avoid the risk of infection and not to risk the results of the application, the area should not be itched and the crusts should not be picked.

Hair should not be washed or shaved for 4 days after SMP. Activities that may cause excessive sweating on the scalp should be avoided. Since it may cause irritation on the scalp, heavy exercises should not be performed for 10 days following the application. In addition, you should not be in environments such as swimming pools, saunas, and Turkish baths for 1 month and should not take a shower with hot water. In addition to all these measures to be taken, it is very important not to be directly exposed to sun rays during the period specified by physicians.
